Elizabeth Sweet is a Midwest-based independent journalist specializing in design, architecture, and sports. Her work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Dwell, and Milwaukee Magazine, where she explores design’s impact on personal growth, well-being, and athletic performance.
She holds a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Arts in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Sweet began her career at Chicago Home & Garden and Better Homes & Gardens, refining her editorial storytelling across both print and digital platforms. Now based in Chicago, she covers a broad range of topics, from women’s professional basketball and the NFL to contemporary architecture and brownstone renovations.
A passionate advocate for youth sports and female athletes, Sweet uses her platform to highlight underrepresented stories. In her work for Milwaukee Magazine, she explores the journeys of female athletes, coaches, and their support networks, advocating for greater visibility and equality in media. Sweet is also the founder of Fill The Stands, a nonprofit organization focused on increasing attendance at girls' sporting events and empowering young female athletes through community support.
She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sports Leadership at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition to her studies, Sweet is an enthusiastic middle school girls' basketball coach and mother of two.
